Jardim Botânico — Portuguese for Botanical Garden — is a book that acts as a meeting point of two personalities: author Luís Quintais and artist Pedro Morais. Both were commissioned to write, and draw, respectively, about the many fantasies  related to the famous Botanical Garden of the University of Coimbra, one of the oldest of its kind.

Typography played an important part on our visual response, as we took inspiration from botanical charts and paintings. In this project, the design acts as a moderator between this two perspectives, combining both the text and the drawings with rhythm, scale and space. This visual approach emphasises the narrative of this object — and it was only made possible by the freedom we were offered by this commission.
